Sun 13th Sept | 10am – 5pm
with Buddhist monk, Gen Kelsang Rabka
You should know sufferings.
You should abandon origins.
You should attain cessations.
You should meditate on paths.
— Sutra of the First Wheel of Dharma
During this full-day course, Gen Rabka will help us to explore the Four Noble Truths — Buddha’s very first and most essential teaching, delivered at the Deer Park in Sarnath, India. These four truths act like a supreme medical diagnosis: identifying the nature of our problems, pinpointing their underlying cause, and revealing how to cure the problem by administering the correct medicine. By contemplating these profound truths, we learn not only the true origin of our suffering, but also how to walk a clear path to complete liberation from it.
Through a combination of practical teachings and guided meditations, you will gain insight into the meaning of this essential teaching and learn how to apply the effective methods it reveals to break free from the problems of modern daily life — initially temporarily, and ultimately permanently.
Everybody is welcome to attend this course, but please note that this course will assume an openness and basic understanding of some of the deeper foundational concepts of Buddhism, including the law of karma, past and future lives, and Buddha’s teachings on ultimate truth.
